Nursery Reveal! 👶🏼 💚
Our baby boy's room is finally decorated and I can't wait to show you...
We had decided that I would decorate this room once I was on maternity leave rather than rushing to get it done whilst pregnant and working full time. I think it was the right choice to make because I also didn't really have any inspiration or a colour scheme in mind until 3 months postpartum!
After lots of trawling through Pinterest for inspiration, I decided I wanted to do two-toned walls with panelling on the bottom. Although once discussing my ideas with Daniel, he turned down the idea of panelling but allowed me to two-tone the walls, yippee!
So with that, I took a trip to our local B&Q to compare swatches for an hour before finally settling on two colours from the Valspar premium range (hard-wearing and wipeable!), Gentle Lamb and Wild Hillside.
Paint mixed, we headed home where I popped a swatch of both colours onto the walls and wow, what a perfect duo I had picked out!
This room was full of Teddy's belongings, old clothes I'd listed on Vinted and an overflow of my stuff from moving out of my family home. Plus one wall had wallpaper that needed taking down, something I'd never done before. Turned out to be a very easy job, pulling the top layer off to expose the glue, saturating it with water using a spray bottle and scraping away; job done!
I'd been contemplating where I wanted the split of the two colours to be, 3/4 or half. Originally I was working with the concept of 3/4 but after taping up the wall halfway for visual aid, I decided halfway would be the way forward.
With a new plan in place, I painted the top half and ceiling Gentle Lamb and the bottom half Wild Hillside.
It was looking fantastic and all that was left was to get our brand new 3-piece furniture set built, which was currently clogging up the hallway! We had opted for the Wedmore set from Mamas & Papas, which we had first laid our eyes on in a shop during my second trimester.
Over two days, we had cleared out the room and built all three pieces of furniture. It took a bit of rearranging to give ourselves plenty of floor space and to keep the small room feeling spacious.
Wow, I can't believe my vision has come to life and truly how good it looks. Once we've got some artwork on the walls and some personal touches, this will be one gorgeous nursery.
