Coastal Memories, spending time at the North Norfolk Coast

With the warmer weather and the stormy skies comes that time of year when time is well spent down by the coast fishing for Mackerel.

Daniel has done this every year for many years and now that we are together, it's something we can enjoy together.

The "summer" weather has been a bit hit and miss this year here in Norfolk and July has brought muggy heat and thunderstorms almost every day so far this month. Whilst it's not been the loveliest of weather during the day, it makes for perfect fishing conditions in the evening.

On Monday the 17th of July, Daniel and I headed to Weybourne Beach in a hurry after hearing the conditions and the volume of Mackerel coming in were second to none. When we got there, the sun was out, the sea was rippling from shoals of Mackerel and the breeze was warm.

I came well equipt with my camera, my current read and some images I needed to edit following an equine shoot I did on the previous day. As I sat there enjoying the warmth and the sun setting, Daniel and his Uncle were bringing in lines after lines full of Mackerel and a decent size too.

Towards the end of the evening - around 3-4 hours, Daniel handed me his fishing rod to have a go myself. On my first catch, I got a couple of medium-sized mackerel, on my second go, I got a huge Bass(!) and on my third go I got the biggest Mackerel caught all evening. It was a successful first experience!

Along with the high tide and the volume of Mackerel also brought along heaps of White Baite being thrown up on the shore which looked like jewels sparkling along the beach.

Watching the sunset has always been and always will be my favourite thing in the world and that night did not disappoint. The colour change the sky and clouds go through will always amaze me and I've also started to develop a love for coastal photography, especially taking silhouette shots of Daniel fishing.

Whilst the weather hasn't been ideal, it really did bring us the most magical evening this season so far✨

Much Love,
