My Tips on Styling a Transitional Wardrobe

Here in the UK, the weather has made a vast improvement in what feels like an overnight change and after a long, dark and wet winter, I’m very pleased to see the sun at last!

However, Storm Kathleen has not been kind to us and those gusts have been strong and cool so we’re now at that time of year when we open our wardrobes and think ‘I’ve got nothing to wear’.

I’d like to share with you all today my favourite items of clothing that I’ve been wearing year after year and how to style them through this ever-changing transitional weather.

My Tips

My number one top tip with this time of year is layers. There’s nothing worse than being caught out leaving the house early morning when it’s chilly and then the sun breaks through the clouds later in the day and suddenly you feel over-dressed. That’s why I reach for loose-fitting shirts and blouses this time of year where I can then choose to layer up with a jumper that I can later throw over my shoulders when I feel warmer.

My favourite types of jumper during Spring are thin crew necks or an oversized ribbed knit quarter zip.

I’m also so pleased that now we’re transitioning into short jackets and blazers after a long 3 months or so in knee-length duffle coats! My favourite styles to bring back out of the wardrobe is a classic black quilted short jacket that goes with everything and a thin blazer or long blazer style jacket. Think classic Welligogs style!

Lastly, I’m so thrilled that now it’s less wet and muddy and the big coats can come off, it’s officially dungaree season! Last year I bought a lovely pair of dungarees from TROY London which are sadly no longer part of their collection so I would recommend the Joules dungarees they brought out last season or these from House of Bruar.

My absolute top tip of all is to reuse your wardrobe! I am the last person to go out and buy new collection items every time the seasons change and most of my most loved items I’ve been wearing time and time again for years. I love championing reusing outfits and would urge you to buy second-hand if you are looking for a new piece to add to your collection.

I would love for you to share your favourite looks you love to wear throughout the Spring / Summer transition so please do tag me in your Facebook / Instagram posts.

Much love,
